Mar. 25th, 2003 05:18 pmWell, I'm here. In Norfolk. No longer in Newark. Yay!
I love being here -- the only thing I miss is my staff. They were so sweet! They threw me a surprise going away party: they made me a silk flower/pen arrangement for my desk, got me gorgeous engraved desk clock, and they framed pictures of the whole staff in uniform too!
Natalie, Scott, and Darrell all came to help me pack -- they were awesome! If not for the NSD team, I'd still be folding laundry. Thanks everyone!
Then my maintenance director, JC, came to help me load up his mini-van and we started driving down. The drive was gorgeous, it only took about four and a half hours. Of course, JC and I had to sneak onto the construction site and poke around a bit. Poor JC was so jealous! "Hey, why do you get copper pipes??"
I'm all settled in my dorm room. I cannot believe that I'm 25 years old and living in a dorm room, but it's actually really nice. I think they usually give this room to visiting faculty. It has a jacuzzi. [happy Taffy] No kitchen, though. [shrug] Not like I ever cook anyway.
Unfortunately, the leasing here was totally #$%#$@'d up. [sigh] Nothing like a challenge.
So, to sum up: I'm in Norfolk. Most of my stuff is in storage in Newark. I'm living in a dorm until the building is ready. At which point, my stuff will come and join me in Norfolk. And I have a load of work ahead of me.
