Help?

One of my friends just adopted two little boys and we're pooling money to get something for the new family. The boys desperately want a wii. I've done all the web searches in the world, but can't find one in stock at a reputable dealer for anything close to retail price. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know about the US, but we had a shortage of them in the run up to Christmas. Apart from ebay, I would check specialist games' stores (that's where I get all our consoles) in your malls -- they'd have the best idea if they don't have any in stock.

Also, there's a site (http://wii-store.com/) which has, it looks like it, a US store. Just know that the "5 sports games" is bull -- it's "Wii Sports" and comes with the console.

Yeah, that seems to just relist the ebay auctions, which are all selling for about $100 over retail once you include shipping. But thank you!

Call your local Toys R Us to see if they're getting a shipment of them. Call Gamestop if you have them where you live. Target might be another place that might get some in. You just have to catch them when they deliver them. There's still a shortage. Don't pay more than retail though. So many scam artists out there.

we've got 3 walmarts here, and the one on lawrence road said they'd be getting some in. i could pick it up for you, if you trust me, and then ship it. and i can check with my family in san antonio to see if they can find one.

a few christmases back, when those fuzzy talking furbies were the in thing, it was an online buddy that very kindly found one for me and shipped it so my daughter got one for christmas i'd love to be able to pass that kindness on :)

okay, i talked to wakmart lady - she said she'll be getting some in, they just aren't sure when. in the next two weeks. but they're first come, first served - she told me to call every weekday morning at 10 to see if they're there. i'm happy tp do that, if you want to wait that long. and i kind of suspect that maybe she was being generous with the two weeks - as in, it could take longer. but i have three walmarts to call and eventually one of them will get one. i don't have the cash on hand and won't for about a month - ex changed jobs and child support is skipping a couple of payments, which crunches our budget - but i might be able to borrow it from my son if you just want to pay me back. the kids had promised to get me one for my birthday (in february) anyhow, so this will also be to my benefit.

so, shall i start the hunt? i think the walmart retail price is around $250 (compared to $600 online - yikes!)

a few years back my cousin and her husband adopted a family of three boys - it's worked out really well for them. i hope your friends do as well.
