The Curious Case of that Time with the Thing by giddygeek. It's Psych and it's Shawn/Gus (are there any other pairings in Psych?) and it's awesome.

Excerpt: "They're watching all the stupid cartoons that Gus has saved on his Tivo, and it's just like hanging out, except Shawn thinks he's going to give Gus a blowjob later, after he's done eating pancakes."

I'm not sure if you're joking, but... Shawn/Gus fans are a most definite minority, unfortunately. Which is one of many reasons why Yuletide makes me happy.

Shawn/Lassie is the biggest slash pairing and Shawn/Jules the biggest het pairing. Shawn/Gus is the one that pops up its head from time to time saying, "Hey, I exist!" which has the other fans going, "Aw, but you're like BROTHERS!" (because that suddenly matters for some reason). Gus is nowhere NEAR as frequent in fic (even gen fics) as he is on the show. *am bitter*

You know, I don't often jump on the fandom is racist bandwagon, but ... something isn't right about that.

Yeah, I don't particularly want to draw that conclusion either, but... Most of the time when a character of colour is underwritten I can sort of see why, you know? And I can't understand this one. Sure, individual fans preferring another pairing, or thinking Gus works best as the straight BFF (who is then ignored for the romantic storyline or indeed the action plot). But it's such a massive blind spot that I can't help but wonder.

Indeed. Even more wrong, slashmommy is into the primary slash pairing for this show. I mean, it's not odd that she would pick Shawn/Lassiter, but it is odd that she's going with the fandom tide rather than against, you know?

That only proves that fandom is out of whack. Clearly Shawn/Gus should be the primary pairing, then slashmommy could go with the rare pairing. As is right.

I don't see Shawn/Jules at all, and I think Shawn/Gus is cute (I liked this story, BTW--H/C yay!), but Shawn/Lassiter is what I saw when I watched the very first ep, and it sure hasn't gone away by now. Lassiter has an extreme over-reaction to Shawn, *every single time*. He can't just ignore him. Shawn *gets* to him, in some odd way. And Shawn jumps on to that like...I dunno, like some crazy jumping thing. (It's too early in the morning for coherence.) It's easy to translate that into what TV tropes calls "Foe Yay".

I get the Shawn/Lassiter thing, I just don't see why Shawn/Gus isn't more popular.
