Since there are a bunch of new people on my flist I thought it might be good to do a bit of an introduction post.

First, let's start with the pseud. From "The Just So Stories" by Rudyard Kipling:

ONCE upon a most early time was a Neolithic man. He was not a Jute or an Angle, or even a Dravidian, which he might well have been, Best Beloved, but never mind why. He was a Primitive, and he lived cavily in a Cave, and he wore very few clothes, and he couldn't read and he couldn't write and he didn't want to, and except when he was hungry he was quite happy. His name was Tegumai Bopsulai, and that means, 'Man-who-does-not-put-his-foot-forward-in-a-hurry'; but we, O Best Beloved, will call him Tegumai, for short. And his wife's name was Teshumai Tewindrow, and that means, 'Lady-who-asks-a-very-many-questions'; but we, O Best Beloved, will call her Teshumai, for short. And his little girl-daughter's name was Taffimai Metallumai, and that means, 'Small-person-without-any-manners-who-ought-to-be-spanked'; but I'm going to call her Taffy.

Given the then-aptness of that description, it's not too hard to see how that ended up as my nickname when I was entering fandom eleven years ago. Of course, it's still pretty accurate, except for the "small person" part.

Next, let's talk fannish history.

My first real slash fandom was Star Trek: Voyager, which was when I discovered that I'm not wired as a OTP-person. You could slash anyone with Tom Paris and I was a happy girl. Maybe I'm a One True Character person?

Eventually the Voyager fandom died off a bit, which was when I discovered that I do fandom serial monogamy. When a fandom starts dying down or when something else catches my eye? I move on. Oh, I'll get nostalgic every now and again and go reread old favorites in old fandoms, but mostly I move on. From Voyager, I moved on to Sports Night, then West Wing, then Buffy/Angel, and now Doctor Who/Torchwood. And yes, the One True Character thing continued. Dan Rydell, Sam Seaborn, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, and now Jack Harkness all followed in Tom Paris' footsteps. Slash them with anyone and I'm happy. Well, I certainly have preferences, but they're not deal breakers.

I've also dabbled in a few other fandoms without doing the head-over-heels thing. Starsky and Hutch, Firefly, and Queer As Folk (US)? All good. *pets Starsky and Simon and Brian affectionately*

Finally, on to personal stuff. There's not too much to tell here. I have a job that I alternately hate and love. I'm constantly traveling for work. I'm Jewish, I'm gay, and I'm (painfully) single.

So there you go: Taffy 101. Feel free to ask any questions or just wave!
